NYC Public Schools serves New York City. The largest school district in the United States, covering all five boroughs. Below are the 2026-2027 first day, last day and break dates exactly as published on the district's own calendar.
NYC Public Schools runs on a calendar unlike almost anywhere else in the country. School starts after Labor Day on September 10 and does not finish until June 28. There is a full Midwinter Recess week in February, winter recess is only December 24 to January 1, and spring recess falls in late April rather than March.
